Marcos Valderrábano

Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation IUCN-Med. Ecosystem Programme Officer

Marcos has worked for IUCN Centre of Mediterranean Cooperation since 2010. As Ecosystem Programme Officer of IUCN MED he coordinate projects on terrestrial ecosystem management covering a wide range of conservation challenges including protected area management, climate change adaptation, landscape restoration, community management and governance and Important Plant Areas. All these projects have been developed in Mediterranean countries, with special focus in North Africa and Middle East, and emphasis in involving multiple stakeholders.

Before joining IUCN, Marcos worked for TRAGSA supporting Spanish cooperation in Lebanon (2018-2010) and Egypt (2006-2008). During this time Marcos was providing technical assistance to ministries of Environment and Agriculture of those countries, what gave him good insight of public sector of south and east Mediterranean. Before that Marcos was active in associations and NGOs, being a president of small NGO (Bosque y Comunidad).
